What Is The Gospel

Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you — unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. (1Corinthians 15: 1-9 ESV)

The Gospel is literally “good news”. What makes it good? The fact that God became a man and lived a life we should have lived and died a death we should have died in our place to spare us from the punishment we deserved because of our rebellion against God. And then, this God became man rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is reigning over the entire universe and will come back to Earth again to judge the world and will put all enemies under His feet and will reign as a triumphant king for all of eternity.

Who was this God become man? His name was Jesus. And His life and His death changed history. And at Eternity, we are passionate and focused on Jesus. We plead with you to follow Jesus. We plead with you to trust Him and all that He said. We plead with you to make Him your purpose and your treasure. Jesus is our only hope and He is your only hope.
