Apprentice
“Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” - Jesus
The word apprentice is simply defined as a beginner or a learner. It has also been described this way:
Apprenticeship is a system of training a new generation of skilled crafts practitioners. Apprentices (or in early modern usage “prentices”) build their careers from apprenticeships. Most of their training is done on the job while working for an employer who helps the apprentices learn their trade. An informal, theoretical education may also be involved. (Source)
And that may be where you are - not a spiritual newborn but also not a practiced follower of Jesus. You know the ABC’s and now you want to start your education and begin receiving “on the job” training. You’re ready to “learn your trade” so to speak as a follower of Jesus.
The depth and diversity of the resources on this page will serve to provide you a solid foundation as a Christian. As an aspiring apprentice, just as is in other educational settings, learning will come both through absorbing and processing information but also taking that information and living it out in day to day life. We believe that learning and doing are not mutually exclusive but rather dependent on each other for their fullest expression.
